Travel Diary		May 9, 2003 Amarillo, TX <  Previous      Next > On our drive west, we spent the night in Amarillo. No, we didn't have a 72 ounce steak, although there really is a restaurant where you can get one free for eating the whole thing. We had smaller steaks. We also drove out to see the pop culture icon Cadillac Ranch. Cadillac Ranch is on land that looks like it is a private ranch. None the less, there is a gate and a path so you can walk out to see these 10 classic Cadillacs that are buried front end down into the ground. They've been there since 1974 and can be seen from I-40 west of Amarillo. The cars are all decorated with various graffiti and there was evidence that this decoration is a work in progress by visitors.
